Creo 7.0 is chock-full of incredible new tools and features to support organizations in designing manufacturable, high-quality products at a lower cost.
This Creo video tutorial reviews some of the latest enhancements including:
- The latest subscription packages
- How to leverage multi-body design for master modeling
- New simulation capabilities with Creo Simulate Live
- General UI enhancements design to boost productivity
Webinar Summary
Subscription Packages
Starts at 4:00
PTC moved to the subscription model back in 2018. The goal was to provide customers the tools they needed using a tiered system to accommodate different budgets. There are 5 tiers that add on numerous features with each upgrade. It is possible to get certain tools that are in higher package tiers – but the licenses are limited to one. The packages are as follows:
- Creo Design Essentials
- Creo Design Advanced
- Creo Design Advanced Plus
- Creo Design Premium
- Creo Design Premium Plus

Creo Video Tutorial: Using Multi-Body Design for Negative Geometry Patterns
Starts at 5:00
The first part of the Creo video tutorial explains how to combine multi-body design tools and Boolean operations to create negative geometry patterns. One of the biggest changes to increase productivity is the “new body” category in the model tree. Previously, changes to the geometry would have to be added directly to parts – which isn’t always the best choice. Using the “new body” functionality allows users to modify geometries and create separate parts. Boolean operations can be completed at the part level instead of having to create an assembly from different parts to then run the operation.
Using multi-body design makes it easy for engineers to create exact repeating geometries. It also provides numerous benefits:
- Users can maintain the body in part mode and make additional changes if needed
- Users can remove body features but still have the option to bring them back if needed
- It’s easier than putting the part into an assembly and then completing the Boolean operation
Creo Video Tutorial: Using Multi-Body Design Trajectories to Create a Cavity
Starts at 9:00
Next, the Creo video tutorial explores how you can use multi-body design features and Boolean operations to create cavities in parts.
First, the user selects a trajectory and creates a section by completing a sweep. Using multi-body technology, the user draws and sets an internal circle as a new body. From here, it’s possible to view cross-sections of the part while throughout this process to understand where part components intersect.
To create the internal cavity, a Boolean operation is used to decide which part needs to be modified and to set a cutter geometry. Multi-body tools are used to create new parts from the existing body and to maintain the current body as a master body. This creates external property geometries that are associated with the master file. The geometry created is tied to the master file to simplify changes as modifications are automatically included in the master file. If these changes cause issues on the part or master file, users are notified. The association of parts combined with ongoing modification tracking improves team productivity by making it easier to revert to earlier versions or explore where things went wrong.
Multi-body design gives engineers the ability to maintain master body files and simplify the management of part modifications.
Creo Simulate Live Overview
Starts at 13:30
Creo Simulate Live is an exclusive Ansys extension that has been built right into the Creo interface to provide simulation results in real-time. The extension makes it easy for users to complete structural, thermal, modal, and fluid simulation studies. Receiving simulation results in real-time not only provides more insights during development but significantly streamlines the entire design process.
Traditionally, simulations are completed towards the end of design. The product is sent to a simulation expert who simplifies the model to complete the simulation. They then create restraints, input load requirements, and complete mesh analysis. This process takes a few days and typically results in some design modifications.
Creo Simulate Live lets engineers receive simulation results concurrently with design. This means designs can be fine-tuned along the way to meet requirements and simulation experts can just verify the information at the end in a few hours instead of days.
Creo Simulate Live provides real-time simulation results that update instantly as design changes are made.
Creo Video Tutorial: Creo Simulate Live Demo
Starts at 15:00
The Creo video tutorial explains how to set up the simulation study:
- Define material
- Define constraints
- Define force load
- Get results
Engineers also have the option to use prominent simulation probes. As users make design changes, the simulation results will update instantly in reference to the probe. Creo Simulate Live also eliminates reliance on flexible modeling. New features can be added, or existing features can be modified in modeling mode and the simulation results will update instantly. Users have complete insight into what is happening in high-stress areas, even as changes continue to be made.
Creo Video Tutorial: Using UI Enhancements
Starts at 19:00
Creo 7.0 includes more UI enhancements than could be included in a single 1-hour webinar. The last section of the Creo video tutorial includes a quick review of these elements including how to:
- Mirror parts and assembly elements
- Reuse sketches
- Control sketch regions
- Activate parts within an assembly
- Use Fullscreen mode
- Use the customizable mini toolbar
- Bring files in from other CAD systems using Unite Technology
